Voerzio Alberto Barolo Castagni 2020

VOERZIO!!! If you love Barolo as much as I do (is it even possible?), then you know the sort of weight the Voerzio family carries. This 96 POINT beauty will ASTONISH!

Alberto Voerzio is a rising star in Piemonte, the as-of-yet less famous cousin of one of Barolo’s favorite sons – Roberto Voerzio. He’s nipping at Roberto’s heels as of late – and this Castagni Cru bottling of polished and puuurrrrrring Barolo is a scintillating no-brainer to add to your collection. Over 60% OFF makes this a curiosity, and glowing reviews from top critics simply seal the deal! My only wish is that we had more to share…to the fastest fingers on the interwebs go the spoils today, my friends!

Ok, if you haven’t already leap-frogged over to secure a 4-pack, for Pete’s sake read quickly!!! Voerzio’s Castagni bottling hails from a 1.7-acre Cru in the heart of La Morra, set on this blue-grey fractured marl and clay soil, with plenty of quick-draining sand to concentrate the flavors. Some 1,500 feet up on one of La Morra’s stunning hillsides, this plot is biodynamically farmed painstakingly by Alberto’s hands, and the yields are TINY! Classic, INTENSE, and utterly captivating Barolo notes of roses and cherries, and a polished, toasty note that derives from his use of around 25% new oak each year. Pie crust, and Tahitian vanilla, with hints of cocoa powder, and a whirling dervish of roasted herbs and spices – sage, cardamom, white pepper, bergamot tea – this is an open, warm, and simply alluring expression of Barolo – able to age without question, but ready to leave you drooling and twitching for one more glass right here and NOW! His cousin’s top bottlings typically set you back a few hundred dollars (they’re worthy, but still…), but to get this PEDIGREE, and QUALITY for UNDER $50?!?!

Huh-to-the-ZAH, good people! 96 POINT Barolo be FLYING out the warehouse today!!!
