The existential dread that is Dry January is well behind us…FINALLY! While I (obviously) abstained from the whole affair on principle – I’ll admit it…I’m hard at work getting many of my friends back in prime drinking shape. (‘Cause that’s what friends do!) As such, I’ll pop a bottle at the slightest indication of interest, or even a pronounced pause of doubt – just to be safe. A crazy delicious, absolutely CRUSHABLE red is a must-have in these dark times (six more weeks of winter…noooooooo!!!), and this GEM fits the bill perfectly!
All estate-grown fruit, and a Rhône-worthy mix of Cinsault, Counoise, Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, the wine explodes with peppercorns and violets, crushed rose petal, and that unmistakable delicately fresh aroma of baby powder. Blueberries, and cherries, with raspberry liqueur, and some baked strawberry tarts, too…this is a cornucopia of plentiful Rhône deliciousness – and jam-packed with a bit of California sunshine for good measure. It’s fresh, and precise, with a nimble balance of fruitiness and zippy acidity, and just a killer – KILLER – red to have on hand anytime the BBQ is fired up.
