Status Quo Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2023

Sell out alert, but Adam Lee back in the house!!!!

Siduri co-founder, winemaker, and all-in-all Pinot maven Adam Lee has a new project with the brilliant Matt Iaconis – and you’re gonna want to taste it...STAT!

Status Quo, that is. The latest and the greatest (IMO) from a Pinot Purist that has made his reputation by standing up to those hulked and bulked, grocery store destined, sickenly sweet, mega-purple infused behemoths that the BIG WINE conglomerates try to pass off as Pinot Noir. They might be dipped in an unseemly amount of gaudy wax, or blended with up to 25% Concord grape juice concentrate...clocking in at a staggering 19 grams or more of residual sugar! You know the ones.

This, thank Buddha and Bacchus, is NOT that. This...flat-out SLAYS! Adam Lee is a longstanding Pinot wunderkind, and his work with Siduri almost single-handedly turned me on to the untapped potential and extreme diversity of the grape here in California as I was just coming up in the wine biz. He built one of the great wine stories of the last three decades out of a completely unromantic warehouse in Santa Rosa – and then sold it off to start anew just as it was growing too big and unruly for him to keep the quality as high as his unyielding standards demanded. That's INTEGRITY, my friends, and shows here in spades! Built with the motto that “real wine’s not dead” – Status Quo focuses on pristine lots of exceptional fruit – in this case, a single vineyard (fiercely protected by a cadre of NDAs) off the Russian River Valley’s prized River Road – a literal stone’s throw from some of William Selyem’s and Rochioli’s acclaimed vineyards. Great grapes, no additives, and fantastic winemaking. YES!!! The cool-climate brightness, paired with the perfectly spiced, delicately ripe fruit flavors that could only be Pinot Noir – this is a new classic in the making. Red cherries, lavender, strawberry compote, grapefruit zest, with a light note of Earl Grey tea, and a flourish of cinnamon and balsamic notes...all gorgeously composed with a fresh acidity that sets your drooling into overdrive! Give this a slight chill to serve poolside, or decant and enjoy with any manner of fish, white meats and poultry...you simply CANNOT go wrong with this beauty!

94 POINTS and way, WAY UNDER $25?! That’s how you come out SWINGIN’!!! While it lasts!
