If you just escaped from a doomsday bunker at the bottom of the ocean – let me catch you up on Last Bottle’s ELIVETTE DAY that took last month’s Harvest Marathon to a whole ‘nother LEVEL! The CRAZIEST single producer day in Last Bottle history! Hundreds upon HUNDREDS of cases just VANISHED into the ether, never to be seen from again like Keyser Soze! I was a little furious actually – I spent HOURS tasting bottles, doing research, writing notes, being my usual clever self…and basically everyone launched right past all that effort and blitzed their carts so fast we broke our server…TWICE!!!
So…the moral of the story – DO NOT DELAY!
This jaw-dropping, absolutely STELLAR 2014 Elivette didn’t make it on the truck in time for Marathon (we seriously were considering breaking into the trucking warehouse and loading up all of our vehicles that Saturday afternoon with as many cases as we could transport to keep the Elivette flowing), but at the end of the day – this is better. I mean 97 POINTS! $175 LESS than the winery retail (and still WAY lower than their own blowout sale a few months back), we absolutely scored…and now it is your turn! This WILL sell out – the only question is how fast.
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, 15% Malbec, 14% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Merlot means the gang’s all here – and at 11 years young – they are ready to RUMBLE! Roasted plums, crushed blackberries, brandied cherries, and a healthy smattering of herbs like sage and spearmint, uplifted with a floral prettiness of vanilla and lavender. Those long-lived Spring Mountain District tannins and structure have integrated tremendously…and this glides across the tongue and coats every corner of the mouth like liquid cashmere. Wow, and I mean WOW – is this ever good!
