2009! A ludicrously overlooked vintage in my book when it comes to Napa Reds, and this MAGNUM is more than happy to prove my case! A moderate growing season that developed slowly, with perfectly balanced acidity, full-ripeness of fruit without too much sugar, or any over-ripe raisin characteristics to the grapes – it all bodes very, VERY well for a cellar-capable GEM like this. Fill up a magnum and let time do its thing – and the results are downright SPECTACULAR!
Plush, layered, and oh-so expressive, and just downright BURSTING with blackberry, cocoa powder, and wildly complex and savory mountain herb intensity that lingers like a stage-5-clinger. Silky-fine tannins and vibrant, illuminating brightness make this just hitting a plateau of sheer and utter brilliance that should likely last another 20+ years yet!
