In the marquee role of Brad Pitt, we have the phenomenal winemaking talents of Robert Smith. No lank and dank hair or black eyeshadow here, nor those hypnotic 80s love and angst-driven ballads either (at least as far as I know) – this Robert Smith is a wine guy through and through. Powerhouses like Quintessa, Seven Stones, Krupp Brothers, Covert Estate, and Quixote – working alongside such fabled names of Napa like Aaron Pott, Julian Fayard, and Philippe Melka along the way. THAT is what he brings to the table. And wouldn’t you have it – it’s a FEAST!
Rich and heady, with saturated fruit, and plenty of polish and in-your-face decadence. Wave after wave of blackberry, and plum, with blueberry pie, dusted with spice notes of clove and cardamom, and lusciously plump elements of chocolate truffles, with this aromatic essence of elderflower liqueur. Bits and bobs of supple new leather, vanilla bean, and fresh-drawn espresso complete this dazzling blockbuster – and I’d easily give this two thumbs up – were it not for my glass in one hand, and the bottle in the other! We’re talking WAY under $40, good people – for 95 POINT Napa Cab!
