Romuald was born not far from these parcels, the son of a vigneron, in a long line of a vigneron family, all focused on Burgundy. And yet, growing up – working for the BIG houses of Burgundy, in those famed Grand Cru vineyards – he turned away from wine. He saw behind the curtain…with the chemical spraying in the vines, the overexertion and manipulation of the wines, the tricks of the trade to make a bad vintage seem ok…it was simply too much. So he bought a small cottage in nearby Beaujolais – and began making his own wines, with an old-school “one man and a field” approach that led to the purest expressions of place he could craft. He developed a loyal and sophisticated following – considered among the cutting edge of Beaujolais' new, elite, and transformative winemakers. After years of making STUNNING Beaujolais…the PRODIGAL SON has returned to Burgundy!!! He’s carefully selected vineyards with character, and set about showcasing the tippy-top best expressions of each! All ORGANIC farming, minimalistic winemaking, and some truly magic ju-ju thrown in the mix – I promise you, these sure don’t drink like Burgundies UNDER $35 a bottle!!! For Premier Cru? Just silly.
