Roberto is an absolute legend, and his Barolos are some of the best anywhere (and regularly trade hands for $200-$300 a bottle on the USA grey-market…) and as any…single…one of you that scored his fantastic Barbera a couple months back can attest – these wines are utterly MAGICAL!!! We sold out of that gem of Barbera lightning quick, and we got even less of this beauty. Straight from the vineyards of La Morra, Barolo, to our icy, cool warehouse. You won’t find this ANYWHERE else! Go, go, gooooooo!
This is PRETTY! Like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, pretty – you know, when the vibrant red hair is revealed for the first time? Core memory, for sure. And so is this! All fruit from Roberto’s Disanfrancesco vineyard in La Morra – right next to one of Barolo’s most famous “Grand Crus” – BRUNATE! Make no mistake, good people – this ain’t your ordinary Langhe Nebbiolo – this is basically Cru BAROLO, minus the time in barrel and extra aging before release. Just 12 months in 30% new, 70% previously used tonneaux and barrels, followed by 8 months in stainless steel before bottling, with all free-run juice (no pressing) to keep things light, fresh, and RIDONKULOUSLY pure. And the result??? DANG, Gina!!! This is just epically good juicy juice – bright, and floral, with notes of violets, and rose petals, and black tea, with this gorgeous flavor profile of strawberries, red cherries, raspberries, all wrapped up with thyme and lavender, and then culminating in this iron-vice grip on the finish that showcases the revered endurance and ultimate cellar potential of a proper Barolo…FOR UNDER $30!!!
