By now, you know how great brothers Ezio and Massimo Negretti’s wines are. We have been serving them up for years – but please PLEASE go get some quick, we get a little less every year! The Negretti brothers own prime stretches of vineyard in Roddi, La Morra and Monforte, and make powerful, classically-styled, ageable wines from their winery near La Morra. This straight Barolo (a blend of all the single-vineyards they make including ALL the big guns) straight-up bowled us over…dare we say it is the best they’ve ever made!! And, YES, that includes the vintage to end all Barolo vintages – last year’s release of the benchmark setting 2016!!
The 2017 vintage is a warm one, and this wine, in particular, is GENEROUS, affable, friendly, and best of all…doesn’t require decades of aging (yay!). So for a price that is seemingly a math error, lock it up, get more than you should, and luxuriously revel in the immediately available swarm of ROSES and RASPBERRIES, dried cherry, black tea, and a fantastic minty note...So lightweight but so crammed with Piedmont goodness. This Barolo is just the BOMB, grace, and power, all wrapped up in a warm blanket of delicious and sumptuous pleasure…AAHHH!
Seriously, what could be better? While it lasts! Amazing price!
