Meteor Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid Napa Valley 2009
DOUBLE 94 POINT, single vineyard Coombsville Cab at an utterly GLORIOUS 66+% OFF!!! This flat-out EXCEPTIONAL 2009 vintage is ROCKING!!!
Seventeen years young! We pulled off the sort of Library heist that would make Nic Cage’s nouveau shamanic intensity kick into overdrive — and you, good people, YOU can get in on the payday! Meteor’s Perseid Cabernet is back — in a BIG way — and this 2009 just CRACKED a split seam fastball into the cheap seats.
Husband and wife winemaking duo Bill and Dawnine Dyer have over a century of winemaking pedigree between them — she with over 25 years leading the winemaking at Domaine Chandon, and he with his tenure under the legendary Rick Forman (and eventually taking over) at Sterling Vineyards, plus stints at Marimar Estate and Frog’s Leap. Their own Dyer label is a Diamond Mountain legend, and their history crafting the Meteor wines has yielded some of the most CLASSIC Coombsville Cabs ever created! Sadly, Bill passed away a few weeks ago, so raising this glass of 2009 hits a little bit harder…
The Meteor Vineyard was first planted in 1999 by legendary vineyard guru Mike Wolf, and straight away became known as one of the top sites in Coombsville. The 2009 vintage was about as perfect as it gets — often drawing comparisons to 2007 and 2012 for its warm, steady conditions and the opulent, powerful wines that came about. This DOUBLE 94 POINT baddie is absolutely PURRING seventeen years in, with a silkiness that hits the tongue like liquid cashmere, and a core of inky blackberries and cherries that set your salivary glands into overdrive! Plush dark chocolate truffles, with iron ore, crushed raspberries, and a bevy of roasted herbs, this is complex, layered, and spiced to perfection. Mocha, and anise, with toasted black peppercorn, and a dusty graphite minerality that stretches into a long and savory finish. WOWZA!
A staggering $146 OFF! This simply must be tasted to be believed — and the provenance is PERFECT! The winery, to us, to you…it doesn’t get much better than that! Over 66% OFF makes this cosmic rain a showstopper you can’t afford to miss…and UNDER $70 for high-scoring, perfectly aged, pristinely pedigreed Coombsville Cab is a godsend…while it lasts, at least!
