Don’t bother busting out your trusty obscure wine dictionary – this is a far simpler mystery. 50% MERlot and 50% caberNET combined from some absolutely PRIMO lots of Keenan’s sustainably-farmed Spring Mountain estate. Mailbox vineyard for the Merlot, Big K vineyard (and all Clone 7) for the Cabernet Sauvignon. This is their 22nd consecutive vintage of making this wine and always…ALWAYS…one of my personal favorites for the portfolio.
Roasted plums, crushed black raspberries and blueberries, with milk chocolate, rose petals, and roasted coffee beans, and a spicebox of pipe tobacco, and black truffle shavings, toasted black peppercorns, and a savory, salty, and minerally soya finish. Dark, brooding, and with a heady, NOT FOR THE SHY character – this is just wicked good – I think we have a WINNER! Heck, every single bottle of this Spring Mountain legend has simply rocked – I’m just hoping I got enough!
