The volcanic soils, the oxygen-depriving high elevations, and the dry, cool yet warm climate of Red Hills AVA, just a few miles north of Napa’s iconic Howell Mountain. The winery’s $40 retail is simply KILLER, but that we managed to knock off a full 55% from that?! That’s a full-blown massacre.
The decadence, the intensity, the structure, and unbridled POWER of this wine simply scream Mountain Cab done right. The floral flourishes of roses and violets on the nose, the whispers of vanilla bean, and earthy dark chocolate sensations, all with this core of inky and ripe blackberries, and black plums, laced with the toasty and heady sensations of a perfectly charred barrel. The folks at Wine Enthusiast called out sasparilla, and you know what?! I’ll bite. There is this sweet, root-y, almost cola note here – the sort you’d get at the old-fashioned soda fountains where they make their colas and root beers in-house. (That was a thing, kids!) Anywho – sasparilla or not – this is bloody DELICIOUS and we’ve got it for the best price ANYWHERE! At ONLY $18…you’re gonna want to LOAD up a buggy full!
