What a HOOT! Seriously, how many owl puns do you think I can work in here? Owl guess we’re about to find out! But there’s simply nothing punny about this CRAZY great deal – a new-ish project in the arsenal of the esteemed 100 pt. Guru, Jean Hoefliger, (man, is that guy prolific or what?) for a melon-whomping 68% OFF the winery price?!?! This 2022 is his first release as Hibou’s new consulting winemaker – and it flat-out ROCKS! Alexander Valley is my favorite spot for Sonoma Cabs, and the Michel Rolland-trained Hoefliger is quickly catching up to his sensei with hit after glorious hit that delivers sensationally – especially at the sort of price that simply should not exist for a Cali-Cab with this sort of pedigree!!! Owlelujah!!
What’s is it owl about, you say? Oh, ho, ho – this is rich and aromatic, with a heady incense aroma that has me thinking of cedar, and camphor, with crushed blackberries, and Japanese plum wine. Once it hits the tongue…an explosion of blueberries, and pomegranates, with kirsch, and crème de cassis, with this dusty graphite finish that holds on like Hans Gruber atop the Nakatomi Tower (totally a Christmas movie, BTW.) It would be a worthy wine at the full retail of $80 a bottle – but at our simply lunatic price of just TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS?!?! You know what’s coming, folks…INCONCEIVABLE!!!
