Yeehaw!!! Who’s ready to turn this all the way up to ELEVEN?!?! I love, love, LOVE me some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – but I also love properly SAUCY Kansas City style BBQ…so we just HAVE to have some spicy, robust, and simply lip-smacking ZIN to pair up! JUST $20? Done and dusted, good people! This baby is typically reserved for members and guests to the winery, but when we tasted this a few weeks back – we just HAD TO HAVE IT! Dark, dense, and fully loaded – this has that classic Dry Creek feel to it, with a bit of extra mountain intensity sprinkled in for good measure! Grist vineyard sits atop Bradford mountain – the tallest point of the coastal range here – and just some 15 miles from the Pacific.
The vineyard goes back to the 1920s, and these vines are anywhere from 50 to 100 years old! Red volcanic soils, organic farming, high elevation – basically every…single…thing you want in top-class Zinfandel! 93 POINTS from Wine Spectator and I can’t get enough of that peppery, hyper-fresh, and fully in-yo-face explosion of red raspberries, and cedar, with cherries jubilee, and that cola-spiced note of sassafras and lavender. ONLY 340 CASES ever made – and we snagged all we could.
