Umm…ME!!!! Look, I know this is Gary Farrell Day – but I think we can all agree – the RAMEY family knows a thing or two about KILLER Cali-Chardonnay. Their Westside Farms parcel sits right along the river itself, in what’s known as the “Middle Reach” of the Russian River Valley AVA. We’re talking a stone’s throw from ROCHIOLI, the Lazy W, and Allen vineyards – and smack dab across the street from the legendary Williams Selyem! How’s that for a prim and proper zip code?! For over 150 years, this property has been an agricultural landmark – and since the Rameys took it over, at least – Chardonnay is KING!
Toss in the miraculous 2021 vintage – known for its precision, poise, and holier-than-most purity – and something special is brewing! Crazy aromatics – floral, flinty, citrusy, and impeccably fresh – all leading to a perfectly balanced melody of tart orchard fruits like Korean pear and green apples, punctuated with salty river rocks, sweet lemon curd, and finish of tarragon and lemongrass. It’s electric, but substantial in both body and texture – giving this plenty of length to lay down for another few years! Pretty darn tempting right here and now, though… especially with a nice Diver’s scallop carpaccio – yeah, BABY!
