YEEHAW!!! Happy Saturday, party people! I’ve got College Gameday to watch, so let’s jump right into today’s simply stellar deal. Call it Fort Ross-Seaview, call it West Sonoma Coast, or True Sonoma Coast – I’ve heard ‘em all. My favorite? The EXTREME Sonoma Coast! Sounds bad-@ss, right? Like Tony Hawk sticking the first-ever 900. Anywho…I’m here to loudly shout into the void – this is where the BEST pinot noirs in California call home!! Hirsch. Flowers. Raen. Marcassin. And more! This 2019 Fort Ross Vineyard pinot is simply delish – and at our cray-cray price of WAY UNDER $30…just an all-time rockstar pinot deal.
Speaking of rockstars…JEFF PISONI! The son of Gary Pisoni – the unquestioned GODFATHER of Santa Lucia Highlands – Jeff grew up in the wine world, and with stints at Peter Michael, and then taking over winemaking at the family’s Pisoni Estate when he was just 22…welp, he’s a bit of a phenom. At the helm here with Fort Ross since 2009 – these grapes might grow off the beaten path, but trust your wine scribe…it’s a path worth beating. (Think Jake Paul worthy of a beating.)
What’s it like? Smoky roses and violets, with sweet red cherries, spearmint, and thyme. Seriously seductive. Then one sip gives you an explosion of salted pomegranate, more cherries, some cedar, Assam tea, crushed raspberries, and this bright, spiced plum note on the finish. Utterly fantastic at the winery price of $27 – but just flat-out BONKERS at our nigh-on unbelievable price of ONLY $12!!
