Gotta tell ya, Jeb…it’s drinking pretty freakin’ awesome right now! YES! And at our simply remarkable price…you’d best believe I’ll be scoring enough to last me a few years! Plus, Daniel and Aurelie fed me never-ending truffles, and baguettes, and fresh cream butter, and house-made charcuterie on my last visit – so you know I’m getting back there as soon as humanly possible!!! They’re the classic husband and wife vignerons – living, breathing, and crafting KILLER Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in an absolutely MAGICAL tiny little garage cellar across the street from their house (where a second tiny little cellar was being finished when I last visited). This is powerful and savory, with smoky herbs, followed by this meaty, almost chewable intensity, followed by a never-ending parade of ripe, juicy berries! Blackberries and raspberries, strawberries and mulberries, with notes of black cherry, and bright, red plums…what a ride!!! It’s not sticky or over-ripe, and there’s enough tingly, zippy piquantness to ensure this beauty will sing like Gaga for a decade plus – but it’s SOOO silky too! Lots to love, not the least of which is the STELLAR price of OVER 50% OFF!
70% Grenache, then 12% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, 4% Cinsault, and the bits and bobs of some other allotted varieties in CdP – hailing from some vines that are over a CENTURY old! The family plots go back over 4 generations and over 100 years – and up until the mid-90s – ALL this simply BODACIOUS fruit was sold to the fabled Pierre Usseglio! Sites like Les Terres Blanches, Le Pointu, Le Pialons – notable plots, all – now combining to create a gorgeous mosaic of flavors that raise the banner for old-school, traditional CdPs everywhere!!! Juicy enough to kick start those salivary glands, yet savory and spicy enough to warm all the way down to your toes…absolutely seamless hedonistic pleasure from start to finish! This is a drink-me-up wine that I absolutely LOVE to death! 91 points is a mere morsel of this little wine’s HUGE story – and those of you who act fast can chew on that by the fire for our incredible UNDER $30 price!
