Domaine L'Abbe Dine Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2021

L'Abbe Dine is one of our best all-time CdP finds – and this Côtes du Rhône red gives you all the pleasure – at a simply unreal price!

BOOM! The absolute finest, tastiest, staggeringly awesome Côtes du Rhône deal of the year – perfectly timed for prime Spring and Summer drinking!!! FIFTEEN American dollars for a wine made by the hyper-talented, one-woman show that is Nathalie Reynaud (who trained under none other than Southern Rhône’s most famous, multi-100-point winemaker of all-time, PHILIPPE CAMBIE)!! Madness!

This family-run producer is doing everything right – one of our most epic French finds. Tasting at Nathalie’s winery in Chateauneuf-du-Pape was one of the greatest wine tastings I’ve ever had and there’s no wonder that Wine Advocate smartly called L'Abbé Dine “an estate that seems to be turning out better and better wine every vintage” – and this 2021 CRUSHES it! It’s charming, and juicy, and just POPPING with bright red berry fruits, some floral perfume to draw you in, some spice and roasted herbs to kick up the complexity…but this is NOT a wine for THINKING! Only $15!!! Step one…get a lot. Two…pop and sip as soon as it arrives, and with reckless abandon at backyard BBQs, poolside gatherings, in the sunshine, on the porch, at a friend’s house for dinner – just all-time, anywhere, with anyone sort of wine.

This is the perfect entry wine to fall madly in love with L'Abbe Dine…just fresh, vibrant, utterly classic Rhône wine to drink with feckless abandon. 80% grenache, then syrah and mourvedre, from the sandy soils of beautiful Courthezon – NOT across the river from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, NOT a few miles down the road, literally NEXT DOOR. I’m talking meters and yards, not miles and kilometers. Seriously, stand in the vineyards at Chateau Rayas, pick up a rock, and throw it east… it will land in Courthezon. The AROMAS! My word – a bright and boisterous bouquet of violets and crushed raspberries, with peppery notes of classic garrigue (roasted herbs de Provence), then fresh and yummy notes of strawberry, and blackberry, and red currant — HUZZAH! This crushable, loveable red has a depth and sensibility that offers nuance not often found in a FIFTEEN DOLLAR Côtes du Rhône!!! Or ANY wine for that matter!!! BACCHUS BE PRAISED…how does she do IT?!?! And how are we soooo lucky to score some of this?! Alright, your turn, good people…while it lasts!!!
