Brannan Wines White Blend Heritage Calistoga Napa Valley 2021
You can’t talk Napa Valley history without talking about Sam Brannan…and I can’t talk about how you overcome that scorching HOT holiday weekend post-partum blues on a Monday morning without blabbing on about this KILLER white wine!! 60% OFF and poised to FLY!
Dry-farmed Napa SAUVIGNON BLANC for the WIN! With orange muscat, too?!?! Wait…whaaaaaa? Trust us folks, this is a DOOZY! From a hot new producer up in Calistoga – this is the first vintage EVER – and hot dang! Did we score here or what?! A noggin-thumping 66% Off – $15 white wine gem that is perfectly straddling the neighborhood fence between cool, crisp, and classic – and outlandishly uniquely, through-the-looking-glass Mad Hatter’s tea party! It’s zippy, fresh, BONE DRY, sure, but also…crazy floral (is that white oleander? honeysuckle?) with round tropical notes like pineapple, guava, mangosteen and more, then tons of exotic citrus – finger limes, pomelo, orange marmalade even…WOWZA! This is fun, but with acidity to spare and a *kiss* of skin-contact fermentation funkiness to give this added depth, and complexity, and overall brilliant interplay of ripe fruits and texture minerality. Mostly sauvignon blanc, some 15-ish% of super-rare orange muscat, a bit of barrel, a bit of skin-contact, lots of love from winemaker Seth Cripe (Swanson, Caymus, Miraflores, and more…) this just…SLAYS! We cleared out their entire stash on this – but they’re still SUPER small-production on this, so it is not nearly enough. Excellent deals on perfect-for-your-pool Cali-whites are the ONLY way I’m going to survive this heat wave, and something tells me y’all are with me on that front! Get six and you’ll not regret it!
While it lasts!
**Sam Brannan not only founded the town of Calistoga, he incited the Gold Rush in 1849 with his famous “Gold, gold, gold!” headline in California’s first newspaper. He made his fortune with mercantile shops selling goods to miners, and then after the rush, founded Napa’s first hot springs resort to get the tourists to stick around a wee bit longer.**
