YES!!! Under $40 for 95 POINT Reserve Napa Cab – with a pedigree like this? Get all you can of this first-ever release, good people – ‘cause with scores like this, and a price that can scarcely be comprehended…there’s not much chance we’ll get this chance again! Arrivé is the killer new project from winemaker Morgan Maureze. He’s running the show at Seven Apart, after a full six years as head honcho at the cult-y Marciano Estate, and some time at Dominus. He also spent a decade and a half working side by side with the one and only Andy Erickson, and – if all that wasn’t enough (it totally is…) – he’s a born and bred Frenchie that can also claim the likes of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Château Pétrus, AND Château Haut-Brion on his CV. I mean…WHAT?!
After making me feel woefully inadequate, completely under-motivated, and outright failing at this little game called life – I wasn’t even sure I wanted to taste this wine, out of pure spite. But nevertheless, I persisted – and wouldn’t you know it…it ROCKS! It leads off with this roasted peanut shell aroma, then crushed blackberries, and a whisper of crème de cassis. A few well-placed kisses of vanilla bean and chocolate truffles keep this running smooth and stylish, and then *POW!*...a wave of blueberries, and chocolate dipped cherries, with cinnamon red hots, and woodsy notes of thyme and sandalwood, and a lush and plush finish that drips of decadence and power. I can see why this is the RESERVE!
Drink now with a quick decant and plenty of swirling – but should you have the patience of a saint – a good 10-15 years will have this SINGING! I say again…under $40, over 77% off, and 95 points – why are you even still reading at this point?!?!
